Based on the 1958 play, Breath of Spring, this jewel of a musical comedy by Kander and Ebb tells the tale of larcenous senior citizens living on New York’s Upper West Side. In order to shore up the dreary retirement hotel they call home, they form a ring of thieves, wreaking havoc in stores from Sadies’ Second Hand Furs to Bloomingdale’s, and regaining their zest for life.
