Auditions -
AXEL & HIS DOG WHEN: WHERE: WHAT TO BRING: REHEARSALS PERFORMANCES Resources ROLES Clellan Card – (age 35-55) legendary local on-air radio talent who wanted to do a local kid’s show for personal reasons. Don Stolz – (age 30-45) Actor/Director/Commercial Talent – owner and operator of the Old Log Theater. Friend of Clellan Card and offered the role to do the hand puppet and voice of Towser the dog. Harry Jones – (30-55+) Director/Producer of the Axel show. Has a tendency to fly off the handle and yell, especially in response to some of Clellan’s antics. Axel refers to him as Harry the Skunk in the show. Mary Davis – (25-45) Singer/Dancer/Entertainer and eventually Axel’s co-host. Harry has worked with her in the past. She was a part of the Arthur Godfrey Show and has performed locally in many arenas. Her Axel character is Carmen the Nurse. Marion – (per Marion ‘exactly one year and three days older’ than Clellen) Clellen’s wife and the mother of Michael. Stan – (25-45) Stage Manager of the Axel Show, also local actor/talent in the area. Last role was Stefanowski in Don’s production of “Mister Roberts” at the Old Log. Tom Cousins/Booth Tech - (25-45), he’s the PR man for the Axel show that plans and schedules the public relation events for Axel and Carmen. Axel calls him Tom the Cousin. Tasseltoes (Camera 1/Delivery Man) (any age over 20) - Camera operator for most of the show and will be double casted to do the Delivery Man later in the show. He is basically one of the guys and participates in the On Set talk when the show is not On Air. Pottratz (Camera 2/ Hospital Admin. Clerk) (any age over 20) - Camera operator for most of the show and will be double casted to do the Hospital Admin Clerk later in the show. He is basically one of the guys and participates in the On Set talk when the show is not On Air. Woman/Receptionist - (any age over 20) she will be the voice on the phone complaining to Harry about Axel’s prank and the Receptionist in the scene where truck loads of fudge is delivered to the studio. Michael/Kid 1 (age 17 to 30) - plays Clellen and Marion’s sole surviving son and one of the Fans outside the studio try to get Axel’s autograph. Carol Schaubach/Kid 2 (age 17 to 30) - one of the two teenagers that are the founders of the Axel and Carmen the Nurse Fan Club and also one of the Fans outside the studio try to get Axel’s autograph. Julie Moden/Kid 3 (age 17 to 30) - the other one of the two teenagers that are the founders of the Axel and Carmen the Nurse Fan Club and also one of the Fans outside the studio try to get Axel’s autograph.
