Theatre: A True Community Building Tradition

2011-12 is set to be an important year for LPT’s Outreach and Education Department. We are proud to unveil a new partnership with the White Bear Lake Area Schools to offer on-campus theatre programming for 3-12 graders. We couldn’t be more excited.

Last spring, WBL Superintendent Dr. Michael Lovett contacted Lakeshore to inquire whether we would be interested in joining forces to offer theatre programming in con- junction with District 624 to further the WBL Area Schools’ objective of “leading minds to learning, hearts to compassion, and lives to community service,” while at the same time working to achieve Lakeshore’s mission, “to provide community enrichment opportunities through the performing arts.”

We jumped at the chance. This is a great opportunity for Lakeshore Players as well as WBL Area Schools. We are convinced this partnership benefits the communities of WBL, White Bear Twp, Vadnais Heights, North Oaks, Lino Lakes, Hugo and Gem Lake more than anything else. The families who are involved in our community theatre are the same families who make up WBL Schools as students, parents and faculty.

This is a win- win situation for Lakeshore, District 624 and the future of the performing arts in OUR community! This is what it looks like when a community comes together for the greater com- mon good.

Thank you to WBL Area Schools, as well as our respected and appreciated financial donors. Without you, none of this would be possible.
