Lakeshore debuts a new week of summer theater arts workshops for teens in grades 6-12. No experience required. Choose to take one or both workshops!

Make ‘n’ Take
Renaissance Costume Workshop

Learn how to design and make your very own Renaissance costume to take home in this intensive workshop. On Friday, show off your creation at a costume parade “fashion show.” Please note: This
hands-on workshop is limited to 8 serious costume students. Additional materials fee required.

Seussical-Inspired
Musical Theatre Audition Workshop

Using "Seussical The Musical" for inspiration, hone audition skills including preparing a reading and a short musical theater-style dance piece. Plus, fine tune audition songs suitable to your vocal skills. On Friday, students will “audition” for an audience of their family and friends. This workshop is limited to 15 students.

INSTRUCTORS

MaryBeth Gagner Costume Workshop teaches and designs at Hamline University. Professional credits include designs at Skylark Opera, Park Square, Penumbra Theatre and many others. She loves her summers at Lakeshore.

Mark Paulson Audition Workshop Acting Instructor was Lakeshore’s Resident Director from 1972 to 1975, then went on to pursue other theatrical interests. For 29 years, he was the Fine Arts Coordinator and head of the theatre program at Hill-Murray School in Maplewood. He retired in 2007 and immediately went at Lakeshore where he teaches middle and a high school after-school acting classes.

Lynn Maiers Paulson
Audition Workshop Music Instructor taught choral/vocal music for many years in the White Bear Lake schools. She is involved in educational programs at MN Opera and Hennepin Theatre Trust and teaches private voice lessons. Lynn began her community theatre “career” at Lakeshore in 1973 and has performed in several other theatres since then.

Heather Paulson Audition Workshop Dance Instructor choreographed Little Shop of Horrors at Lakeshore, as well as the Summer Youth Project shows, Cockamamie Tales From Chelm and Meet Me at the Fair. At Hill-Murray High School, Heather choreographed Children of Eden as well as directed several of the student written one-acts. Heather is a graduate of Hamline University.
